Forget the former things,

Do not dwell on the past

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up – do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

and streams in the waste land.

Isaiah 43 NIV

Darkness makes itself known. When we first arrived in Jacó, I found myself focusing on it a little too much. I fell into discouragement for the month to come and then the Lord quickly offered me a new way of thinking.

Sure, there is darkness around you, but what about the light springing forth?
Is it not so much more apparent?

Why do we focus so much on the darkness and not rather on the light that is growing vaster by the day?

Because where there is darkness there is light, has light not overcome the darkness?(John 1)

To be optimistic means to not rely on our own way of thinking – we can’t allow our minds to be limited to what we see around us. I’ve learned It’s in the small moments and day to day to be most expectant because God doesn’t know mundane. Our ways are not His ways, as our thoughts are not His thoughts. (Isaiah 55)

This past month reminded me how important and valuable it is to live a life of expectancy and optimism. Expecting to see Gods goodness rather than hoping for it. Because He is a God of provision & abundance – God loves to surprise His kids!!

Im excited to continue to share stories with you of the people I’ve gotten to build relationships with and the things I’m learning. I would love to be praying for you so please feel free to reach out to me for encouragement & prayer requests!! <3

All the love,
